Restorative Dentistry

A restoration for your tooth actually “restores” its health and comfort. The type of restoration you need depends upon what has happened to your tooth. Here are some of the most common conditions that we treat with dental restorations:

  • Decay (cavities)
  • Cracks and fractures
  • Wear
  • Chips
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Roots exposed by gum recession

When you come to Floresta Plaza Dental with a problem with your tooth, we will take an x-ray to determine how best to treat it. Both Dr. Ken Torres and Dr. Allea Paras Torres create gorgeous, long-lasting dental restorations.

Tooth-Colored Fillings and Bonding

Fillings and dental bonding can repair small amounts of damage to your tooth: small to moderate decay, chips, gaps, and slight wear. Fillings and bonding use a tooth-colored material called composite to seal and protect your tooth. If your tooth has damaged enamel, it can become discolored and develop decay or even infection.

If you have gum recession, a filling or dental bonding at your gumline can reduce sensitivity and prevent decay in that sensitive area.

Tooth-colored fillings and bonding work by applying composite in thin layers and hardening each layer with a curing light. We choose composite to match your natural teeth, so that by the time the final layer is applied and hardened, it will blend in perfectly.

We use dental x-rays to identify decay because they often occur with no symptoms at all – until a root canal and crown become necessary.

Dental Crowns to Stabilize Your Tooth

If your tooth breaks, has deep decay, or becomes worn down, it can feel sensitive and may break or split. In this situation, an extraction may be necessary. If we treat your broken tooth right away, however, we can often repair and stabilize it, so that it's comfortable again.

A dental crown completely covers your tooth structure. It holds your tooth tightly together and keeps out food and bacteria. It also protects against pain and sensitivity while absorbing some of the force from chewing.

We use a highly skilled dental lab in our area to ensure that your dental crown will fit perfectly and look great with your smile.

Fixed Dental Bridges

If your tooth becomes a problem and requires an extraction, it can leave a gap in your smile and allow your other teeth to shift. This creates problems with periodontal disease, exposed roots, and a misaligned bite. A fixed dental bridge can fill the gap in your smile and keep your teeth from shifting.

Like dental crowns, we design a bridge to match your smile. Two healthy adjacent teeth will hold your artificial tooth in place and allow you to smile confidently again.

Porcelain Veneers

When patients think of veneers, they usually think of cosmetic dentistry. But veneers can also cover sensitive teeth that have been worn down, giving your teeth a longer appearance and your bite better alignment.

Porcelain veneers can, of course, dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth!
